Our values have been steadfast since the company was founded in November, 1997. Our values define who we are and who we are becoming; that is, they are both the standard we subscribe to and a higher standard we are aiming toward. Our adoption and allegiance to these values sets us apart in the industry and forms the core of our reputation.
Founder & CEO
Chuck Ehlers founded the company, then named West Rock, in November of 1997.
Chuck grew up enthralled by entrepreneurship and construction, often working alongside his grandfather who was a plumber. He founded his first company when he was 14 years old, making wooden toys and selling them to local retailers. He started a lawn mowing business when he was 15 years old, enabling him to save and pay for his school – earning his B.A. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and his J.D. in Law, with honors, from The Ohio State University.
Having prototyped his first product, a patented retaining wall system, in his apartment, Chuck’s entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic shaped and continue to imprint Encore Precast today. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Chuck serves as Ohio Contractors Association’s Chair of the Southwest Chapter Executive Committee. In his free time, Chuck enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. You might also find him reading, cycling, running, or skiing.
Partner & COO
Jim Maloney, partner and COO of Encore Precast, joined the company in 2002.
Jim grew up working on a farm and knows the value of hard work and perseverance, which was particularly valuable when he shepherded the company through the 2008 recession. He earned his B.A. in Accounting from Miami University and learned the criticality of strong relationships working in his field of study.
Jim’s impact is felt daily, especially his contributions to the company’s customer-centric culture, having invested heavily in understanding and meeting the needs of Encore Precast’s customers. Outside of his Encore Precast responsibilities, Jim spends time with his wife and two adult children and enjoys working on his farm, boating, and hunting.
